Mercury Retrograde 2010

Mercury Retrograde 2010

When Mercury goes retrograde (backwards) through the sky 3x a year, it’s a beautiful time to down tools, stop striving, stop, refresh.  Things only go backward if you are still pushing – anything that breaks or fails over, particularly travel, could very well be telling you something. We are  meaning making machines….

Stars for June 2009

Stars for June 2009

All times are given in Sydney Australia times – GMT +10 hours.

Mars leaves Aries and enters Taurus on June 1st at 7:18am

Immediately the heated frustration from Mercury retrograde communication muckups cools, and an earthy grounded energy focusses on achieving practical comfort ensues. On June 4th at 2:36pm, Mars 2 degrees Taurus trines Pluto at 2 degrees Capricorn – great for solid comfortable progress, just make sure you reward yourself with home cooking and quality wines. Taurus and Capricorn both know how to wine and dine themselves and others!

The Full Moon on June 8th at 4:12am at 17 degrees Sag brings into focus our need for answers vs the need to explore. If you find yourself handing out philosophy when someone really wants practical examples and questions or you find yourself offering questions instead of answers to some one who is struggling, stop, and read the situation. The challenge that full moons bring is the right response across the axis. In the case of Gemini vs Sagittarius its questions/exploration of a simple situation vs answers/deep exploration of Sag.

On June 23rd, Mars 16 Taurus trines Saturn 16 Virgo at 12:43AM, A new moon at 1 degree Cancer at 5:35AM immediately moves into an opposition with Destroyer Pluto 1 degree Capricorn at 5:41pm. Given the relationship between Saturn and Capricorn, many will experience a typical opposition challenge of balancing home, family and comfort, with leadership, ambition and career. The decision  you make on this date, will have energy and take you far – choose wisely.

The Birthday Paradox

The Birthday Paradox

This is the first time I have heard of this “logistical unlikelihood”. I mean, it’s obvious to an astrologer that a karmic birthday-cakesgroup will share some aspects and perhaps a birthday.

In probability theory, the birthday problem, or birthday paradox[1] pertains to the probability that in a set of randomly chosen people some pair of them will have the same birthday. In a group of 23 (or more) randomly chosen people, there is more than 50% probability that some pair of them will both have been born on the same day. For 57 or more people, the probability is more than 99%, and it reaches 100% when the number of people reaches 367 (there are a maximum of 366 possible birthdays).

That’s from wikipedia. How many of your friends share a birthday with  you? I must be the exception to the rule – none. Though I do have a lot of friends with birthdays around the same date as mine.

Anyone noticed how many family members share a birthday – son and mother, two siblings? Person A Sun conjunct Person B’s Sun is a powerful and stimulating influence. In addition, venus and mercury are never far from the sun, so probably they share conjunctions with those two planets as well. I have family members and friends with spouses that share their birthday or are within 2-3 days.  Sharing Sun and/or Mercury and/or Venus makes for similar life purpose (Sun), values (Venus rules Taurus), approach to money, similar tastes in art and love (Venus rule Libra), communication skills and day to day transport(Mercury rules Gemini), and everyday habits (Mercury rules Virgo).  So much for opposites attract!

March 30th – This Week’s Sparkles

March 30th – This Week’s Sparkles

cosmosIt’s a little odd this week. Not in a Uranian fun and exciting odd way but a little more dreary.

Monday is April Fool’s Day – we might see the tail end of Uranus activity fall flat as people do inappropriate things.

Tuesday Pluto, newly in Capricorn, moves retrograde. The changes you have experienced since January, so deep that you barely noticed them, are going to be shored up. How will this play out? Well, if you made a new friend or relationship in January, but you’ve been too busy to understand their importance, they may leave for six months or more. At sometime in the near future, you will wake up and realise, hey! they were important (Pluto in 11th or 7th or even 5th).

Oh and whatever end-of-Sagittarius thing you had going on since 2005 is moving back in for a final showdown. Be prepared.  You may get a hint of it this week.  But only a hint. Like I said, dreary.

Midweek sees the movement of Mercury into Aries and an immediate square with Pluto. This will only reinforce the *hints* – brief notes, emails, communications or even thoughts that are hard to place in context. All will be revealed but not until later in the year. Tuesday and Wednesday are definitely preparing  you to go back over deep buried old ground.

Next weekend – New Moon on Sunday at around 17 degrees Aries, just as Venus joins Mercury in Aries.  Changes abound. Unthought of consequences for jumping in, what will you do on Saturday night and gain an awareness of on Sunday?

March 10th – This Week’s Sparkles

March 10th – This Week’s Sparkles

Apologies for non-arrival of last week’s post. I wrote it but somehow it didn’t end up on here.mystic-rectangle

This week – everything is happening at the end of the week. From the minute Venus enters Pisces (and then a day later) Mercury, we have a Mystic Rectangle. First Mars and Pluto are still opposite in Cancer and Capricorn. Then Venus/Mercury are opposite Saturn in Pisces and Virgo. Because they are all between 1 degree and 4 degrees, we have quite a tight orb. The Cancer/Virgo (Mars/Saturn) and the Pisces/Capricorn sextile VenusMercury/ Pluto are the four points.

What does this mean? Well for one, there’s a lot of long planned work there. Be a stickler for detail but keep working on those long held dreams. No Uranus/Aquarius in sight so you should be able to stick with it, working steadily. Even on a relationship or hobby, it’s steady steady steady.  Something you’e been planning for a while (September last year?) is coming to fruition. It will take you further and faster than you could’ve imagined. This is a great week, you won’t see another one exactly like it for some time to come.

Enjoy it!
