It seems to me it would be incredibly tricky to have a north node in the south node house. So a cancer north node (learning about nurturing) in a capricorn house (10th house of business and leadership). How do you balance that which is inherently unbalanced? Or perhaps its easier… you are forced to take a career nurturing people and what be business like at home? The south node would be in capricorn in the 4th house. I guess a career in real estate helping people find the best deal to create families on one hand and a strong presence at home helping children understand business and saving and leadership?
- Aries North Node in 7th House or Libra North Node in 1st House
- Taurus North Node in 8th House or Scorpio North Node in 2nd House
- Gemini North Node in 9th House or Saggitarius North Node in 3rd house
- Cancer North Node in 10th House or Capricorn North Node in 4th house
- Leo North Node in 11th House or Aquarius North Node in 5th House
- Virgo North Node in 12th House or Pisces North Node in 6th House
I don’t have this North Node in South Node house (or vice versa) but I’ve seen it in a few charts lately. Do you have opposing houses for the nodes? How do you deal with the challenge? All the people I met were very strong personalities.
The way I approach horary questions: will I change my job, should I move and find a new job, should I change career is to look to the 6th or the 10th house. If someone is working as a nurse and wants to move to a different hospital, it will mostly show up in the 6th house. The day to day routine changes, but the basic job doesn’t. However if the nurse wants to become a pilot or an artist, that would show up in 10th house. Change of career = change of life at a fundamental level.
using the 10th house for a similar job – is not helpful. The 10th house is the “legacy” house – where you find fame and fortune and true calling and all that good stuff. It’s a big, axis house. Sixth house is important but it’s how you approach the day to day routines. Changing jobs as a clerk in one office to another or a shop keeper from one retail to another is very 6th house. Sixth house is also how you serve others day to day. Tenth house is how you lead them. I guess it could be confusing for a CEO position – changing from being the CEO of an airline to CEO of a bank but it depends on the experience and depth of change. If they have been a career CEO all their lives and are comfortable serving companies in that position then it’s 6th house. Retiring as a CEO and running a small business fishing or scuba diving would strangely enough be 10th house – huge shifts, new ambition, different life..
What do you think?
Karen Carpenter – drummer, angelic singer, tiny, anorexic, with a longevity that many celebrities long for.
She was born in New Haven Connecticut at 11:45am on Thursday March 2 1950.
Uranus on the Ascendent? I think she really wanted to be a girl drummer doing the “exotic beats” that she was known for playing when a very young girl. Mars conjunct South Node in the 5th house brings neediness to romance, falling on partners (Libra) to fulfill oneself. The North Node in Aries insists on standing alone, leading and innovating in a solo way. If she hadn’t passed on at the age of 32, I think she would’ve continued to move away from “partnerships” to solo performances. But the need to have a brother, a lover, a partner would always be there – Men are Mars and it’s tough to move away from a Mars/South Node conjunction. Her solo album which her brother and producer didn’t like that much and the recording studio wasn’t happy with was canned and she went back into a partnership with Richard Carpenter. Tough for an Aries North Node that must keep competing to stand alone.
The Sun on the Midheaven cannot hide their light under a bushell. Ever. Venus in the 8th house has to express love and emotion at a real level, to crowds (Aquarius). This is not ‘pop’ music but ‘real’ emotion being produced.
What interests you in this chart? what aspects have you noticed?
Well January 2012 is here. First the aspects to take note of (all times are Australian AEST):
- Jan 7/8 sees Mercury at 28/29 degrees Sag, first sextiling Saturn then Neptune.
- The full moon on Monday Jan 9 is at 18 degrees Cancer 5:30pm
- Venus trines Saturn, conjuncts Neptune then heads straight into Pisces on Friday 13th. Wham bam…!
- A new moon on January 23rd is at 2 degrees Aquarius 5:40pm
- And then Mars goes retrograde on January 24th 2012 at 23 degrees Virgo 10:53am
Capricorn (January 2012 horoscope)
When you look back over the last year, you realise how much you have changed. More than other years I think, no? But only in one area so far. Never mind, Pluto will make sure you continue to change, and it will start in other areas. So if your looks/appearance has changed, now it’s time for you career and love life and house to change. Yep all of them. If your job changed, now the others will too. This goes deeper and wider than you thought. But I think you’ve got some time to “go slow”. Mars is retro and that will help you get used to things – Mars in Virgo and Pluto in Cap. I’d love to know what you are doing with 2012 Capricorn!
Aquarius (January 2012 horoscope)
The end of the month is definitely your time as the Sun in your sign makes a courtesy call on your Ruler Uranus in Aries and then there is a New Moon in Aquarius. You will shine! Have you been bored lately? Not sure where things are heading? The next 4-6 weeks will be very telling. By March/April you won’t know yourself. Sudden changes are not for everyone but I think you will enjoy these very much. Of course it depends on your viewpoint and mood. Just trust you will be in a great place by August.
Pisces (January 2012 horoscope)
Neptun is heading into Pisces soon. That is so exciting isn’t it! Your frustration with people who don’t understand that underlying everything is spirituality will diminish and you will find your “group” or spiritual family. No, not a cult, just good friends that share the same interests and values as you. You won’t have to explain everything and be called a “wacko” for saying it out loud. I think Uranus in your sign for such a long time helped to remove your shyness but still, it’s about time you weren’t so isolated. Just try to go through the next few years conscious, Pisces, not in a drunken or otherwise intoxicated haze. You’ll appreciate it more! I wonder if you have your friends that share your spiritual approach to life nearby already?
Aries (January 2012 horoscope)
This month will see you thinking too much about work too early in the year. What happened to your “destressing in 2012” resolution hmm? What I do see is in the first few weeks, more time spent chatting with work colleagues than pushing them. Nothing is fast enough at work but you do seem to be easing up a bit. Friends will be fun later in the month, take a few days off, ignore family dramas and head out for a picnic or the beach with old friends. Once Mars goes Retro on the 24th, you won’t be feeling too flash – take a painkiller if you must and have a lie down. You’ll be up again in no time! And what are you going to do to destress in 2012?
Taurus (January 2012 horoscope)
How are you finances? A bit quiet after Christmas? Wishing you hadn’t spent so much or maxed out your Visa card? Don’t worry, you’ll be squeezing more money in soon, probably from a hobby or a passion you hadn’t expected to be able to make money from. Follow that development! Later in the month a romance will suddenly settle down if it’s been all about. Perhaps things were going well until Christmas then you lost touch with intimacy? It’s back. If it’s not then I’m sorry but it might be gone for good. At least the arguing will vanish until August at least! Do you prefer to be in an argumentative relationship or peacefully/boringly on your own?
Gemini (January 2012 horoscope)
Chat, chat chat with your significant other. Lucky for you they understand how you like to jabber on about your day. And they appreciate it, even if they don’t say so – not everyone can be entertaining about daily chores and tasks like you Gemini! Don’t gloss over concerns though in an effort to be amusing. If you are worried about money, signal the “serious discussion time” warning. The other people in your life think you are doing so well, they might miss the signs if you jump from one subject to another. Try and get out at the end of the month to nature or a beach, you’ll be rewarded with a fresh perspective. I wonder if you know how much people do listen to you?
Cancer (January 2012 horoscope)
I think you are secretly concerned about something at home and you haven’t spoken up yet. Well you will and very soon. They need to hear it! I wouldn’t clear the air after Mars goes retrograde, that will just cause more hassles. Early is good. Venus is shining on you all month, so you have nothing to fear from whatever it is you want to say. Just beware of a Scorpio or similar in the background – he or she wants to put a spin on your words that you don’t actually mean. So be very clear. Write it out if necessary. Ask for help perhaps?
Leo (January 2012 horoscope)
Your creativity knows no bounds. Creativity is such a funny word – in astrology it can mean painting and singing, yes, but also children and rearranging the house in a more convenient way. No matter what you try, you will shine. I think you are contemplating a new “look”, perhaps a haircut? Leos are so great at changing their personality by changing their clothes. It will suit you and bring different things into your life. Do it.
Virgo (January 2012 horoscope)
Yes it’s time to lighten up on that person – someone has to be the adult and while you are “more right” that doesn’t mean it’s going to help. You are a good judge of what people need as much as what people should be doing – follow the need first. Need a project? Organise a party, something under your own control and let your “perfectionist” streak come out there. You really are good at the organising stuff, aren’t you? Give it an outlet where you don’t rely too much on others. Let me know what project you chose?
Libra (January 2012 horoscope)
Oh I like what you have been doing, you work hard on the details don’t you? The little things that make life beautiful. Keep doing it – Mercury says so early on, and then so does Mars later. The people who notice really love you, you know that right? You will get spiritual insight as you turn mundane tasks into works of art. Arrange flowers, rearrange furniture, paint the window frames. It’s like a meditation to you. Beauty speaks into your mind: let it. What is Beauty saying?
Scorpio (January 2012 horoscope)
Are you planning on getting a new car or mode of transport? Getting around has been challenging for a couple of years now, or at least it’s not the same as it used to be. Never mind, use Pluto to show you how to change your transport requirements. Get a bike, or roller skates. Jog to work, catch public transport, find a way to make your daily travels more interesting to you. I think a friend is more interested in you than you first realised. What are you going to do about that?
Sagittarius (January 2012 horoscope)
Oh Sag, you are in for a treat this month. Trines to your ruler, Jupiter and sextiles from Mercury in your sign means you should be having a great time. Will the party ever stop? Just be careful what you say, you do have a tendency to pay the piper later. Certainly by the end of the month, that thing you said that you shouldn’t have will come back to bite you on the… You know, later it will seem funny but for right now practice saying “this is me, take me or leave me, but this is me”. We love you the way you are!
So there are the stars for January 2012. I hope they are informative. Please let me know if you like them and would like me to do more?
In Australia, Sydney to be precise, Mercury retrograde will end on August 27th, 2011 at 8:03am. That is August 26, 2011 22:03 Universal, GMT time. If you have any planets at 18 degrees, particularly in Leo, expect things to start moving forward by the end of next week.
Libra rules one-to-one relationships and with Sun and Mercury meeting in the skies in her sign, lots of chatter about values and feelings. Keep it LIGHT! Charming, caring, sweet – no Pisces tears or Scorpio pouting, no matter how tempting!
Buy something pretty. You’ll keep it for a long time, and it will make you feel better, transport you, every time you wear it or look at it.
23 degrees Libra. Do you have anything at 23 degrees?

The beginning of the month is intense for early Cardinal signs (Aries, Libra, Cancer and Cap). With Jupiter, Pluto, Mars (then Venus) Saturn and for a short time Uranus converging on those first few degrees, it’s like a party that quickly gets out of control. Perhaps a few nights in with a book and glass of wine if you are tired of the excitement? If not, expect a wild ride.
Uranus is in his final throes – one last pass into Pisces. Expect not to be hoodwinked this time by fast talkers and bedroom eyes. You’ve fallen for Charisma with Uncertainty once too often. If it’s career focussed, be sure to practice your “yeah yeah whatever” look – it will see you through.
Jupiter opposite Saturn will bring up a challenge. Will you expand into leadership or retract back into relationships? No answer is the right answer. But one will demand the other will beckon. It’s up to you.
Finally Saturn square Pluto brings immense change in finance and business. Expect a large company to collapse. One that looked secure and longlasting.
Australian times as usual
Don’t let mercury going backwards worry you too much. Think of it as a time to tell people “no” and sit back and think. If you are asked to change course urgently, this is the time to practice your “I don’t think so” statements. It IS a great time to do research instead. Think of it as a holiday – don’t lurch into new ventures but grab a book or Google and start figuring out if it is actually the best thing for you to be doing with your time.

In Australia, the full moon is in the early hours (3:39am) of Monday 1st March. In the rest of the world, it’s Sunday afternoon.
i’m not 100% sure what to think about it. Hardly surprising with Neptune/Mercury conjunct just around the corner in Aquarius.
But Jupiter conjunct Sun (and of course opposing the Moon in Virgo) should bring good luck to some. Particularly those who have been trying to see something clearly in spite of the smoke being blown their way.
Venus will make herself comfortable with Uranus soon. But it won’t last long. Tears before bedtime – Venus likes cuddles and warmth and sensuality. Uranus is like a lightning strike – nothing huggable about that!
Keep an eye on Mars – if there is a volatile someone in your life, they might go off like a firecracker soon!
I wonder what this all means for the Olympics?
There are three major planetary configurations this month and the two major ones hit Pluto at 4 degrees Capricorn. Saturn the planet of limitations is in a square at 4 degrees Libra – the peacemaker will have to contend with the capitalist. In other words, there’s a fight brewing at work, in your industry or around the globe that cannot be avoided. Jupiter at 4 degrees Pisces says “take a chill pill” while sextiling (positive) Pluto. Pisces has a habit of doing the washing up everytime a fight come a’knocking on the door, so make sure you stand your ground, lay out your concerns or boundaries and then gracefully step back. No point flogging it to push a point – and Pluto loves to break things down irrevocably, burning bridges and leaving no stone unturned. You don’t need to give into that:
- February 1 Saturn Square Pluto 4 Libra/Capricorn 21 at 7:26 AM Sydney, Australia time
- February 7 Jupiter Sextile Pluto 4 Pisces/Capricorn 21 at 3:50 AM Sydney, Australia time
- February 17 Neptune Conjunct Chiron 26 Aquarius 14 at 3:00 PM Sydney, Australia time
Neptune conjunct Chiron will see the release of a new drug, an operation or “cure” that heals. In your life, it could be a time when you add a group or find friends that support you in a new way. If you know someone young and impressionable they may be attracted to a group that is damaged or involved in drugs (Neptune rules drugs). We choose how we want to use the energies depending on our experience.
